Hi Team,

I was asked about TLK110 EVM.
Could you tell me the layout pattern of LAN connector(RJ45) chassis?
Does it connect to the following red part or inner layer?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita-san,

The red blocks that encircle copper polygons is chassis ground. This type of layout is not recommended though for system design. It is suggested that there be no signal return or chassis ground polygons underneath the TD and RD pin between the RJ45 and transformer. The original purpose of the polygons was to reduce common mode noise, but with the integration of less expensive CM chokes into transformers it is recommended that the TD+/- and RD+/- pins be deferentially routed without ground polygons underneath or around the traces.

    Kind regards,
    Ross
