Hi,

I would like to ask you a question about the difference between AM26LS31 and AM26LV31 as below.

Q1) Driver Output Short-Protection Circuit

What is the "Driver Output Short-Protection Circuit" of AM26LV31?

This function seems to be only for AM26LV31 and not AM26LS31.

Q2) What is the major difference of both devices?

My customer is considering to replace LS31 to LV31 due to "short-protection circuit".

Is it possible to replace? If not, what is the challange?

Hi Tamuki,

The driver short circuit protection is the small series resistor shown in the AM26LS31 and AM26LV31 output circuits in the datasheet. They both operate in the same manner.

I do not think there is a need to replace one for the other in this case. Both parts are functionally the same, but the supply voltage is different so the PCB would need some redesign for this change.
