LMH0387

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0387

The datasheet for the LMH0387 says its lower freq cutoff is 125mhz when receiving from a cable. But we have applications where we might want to go much lower than that, perhaps down to 19 mhz or even 5 mhz. What would happen if we tried to feed the part with lower freq signals? If it will not work, why? Is there any way the part can be programmed to accept lower freq signals? We would be willing to forego EQ if we could acheive that.

  • Hi Brian,

LMH0387 operation at 19 MHz or 5 MHz hasn't been characterized and thus this operation is not guaranteed. LMH0387 equalizer was designed with SMPTE launch amplitude rise/fall time settings in mind.

Because of such low frequency operation, you can bypass the equalizer by setting Reg 0x00[5] = 1b. This may work but please bear in mind this has not been characterized and the operation is not guaranteed.
