Dear Sir
May I know DS125BR111 can support 10G-KR or not. Because our new project want to use DS125BR111 replace DS100BR111.
What difference between DS125BR111 and DS100BR111 except speed.
Thanks
Best Regards
James

Hi James,
The DS125BR111 is a more linear design specifically targeted to work with protocols which utilize link training. The linear equalization allows for a more transparent boost to the signal allowing any changes to the Tx FIR equalization to be seen by the receiving device controlling the training process.
While the overall gain of the DS125BR111 is lower than the DS100BR111 the net result is improved eye opening at the receive end of the channel. Just ensure that the attenuation compensation capability of the SOC (Tx/Rx pair) + DS125BR111 (CTLE) is greater than the channel attenuation.

Hi Sledjeski,
Thanks for your reply. It's really helpful.
There is one more thing we want to understand, is DS125BR111 could support 10G-KR protocol?
Thanks

James
Hi James,
Yes the DS125BR111 will work in a 10G-KR interface. It is protocol agnostic and is used in various high speed serial interfaces including SAS-3, PCIe-3, and 10G-KR. This type of linear equalizer does not participate in the link training activity, instead it is transparent allowing the SOC Tx analog signal conditioning. The transparency allows the SOC Rx to adjust the Tx FIR information and optimize the eye opening.

Lee
