Does DS90UH948-Q1 work without IIC control?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UH948-Q1

Dear All,

Can DS90UH948-Q1 work without IIC control?

Also, what's the default value of OUTPUT ENABLE BIT?

Thank you very much!

  • Hi Jason,

The default value of 0x02[7]=0 but not applicable if 0x02[6] is not set. The device’s outputs are enabled by default via pin straps.

  • Hi Dac,

    Thank you very much.
  • Hi Dac,

Thank you very much for your great support.

I have another question need your help.

There are two registers for I2C pass-through to serializer.    The default is disabled.

Does it mean they cann’t use FPD_link to modify all registers in DS90UH948 chip before change the registers  to enable state by DS90UH948 I2C?

Customer's current case is they want to use the DS90UH948 GPIOs to control other circuits but they do not want to an extra MCU to control DS90UH948 registers by I2C.

  • Hi Jason,

Dac is out so I'm helping out with this one. There are similar I2C Pass-through controls on the serializer side. Those would have to be configured for I2C to be passed through to the 948. For example, on the 949, it would be 0x03[3] = 1 for normal I2C pass-through (where the 949 will pass through messages to devices that it recognizes: either the paired deserializer or devices programmed into the I2C Slave Alias registers).

These registers you're showing on the 948 would control how the 948 would pass I2C data through if there were an MCU on that side, with a slave on the serializer side.

    Thanks,
    Jason
