I'm seeing a DHCP lease for an unknown device on my home network.

All I can see is its MAC which has the TI vendor code.

Is it possible to tell from the full MAC what kind of device it is?

That might help me determine if it's valid or a rogue device has somehow been introduced.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but we do have some MAC+PHY devices in the TI Ethernet portfolio. What is the Vendor ID you are seeing?

The full MAC address was 1C:BA:8C:94:52:0B
so I think the vendor code is 1C:BA:8C
According to www.macvendorlookup.com this is within a range registered to Texas Instruments.
Is there a way to tell what kind of device it is?

I am not sure that there is a way to correlate this vendor code to a specific product. It is not a code I have seen for the MAC+PHY products covered in this forum. You might try posting in the Microcontrollers/Processors forum, but I can't guarantee that they will be able to zero in on a specific product.

You might want to try the wireless communications forum as well depending on whether or not this is a Wi-Fi network that the unknown device may have access to.

We have a few parts, specifically CC3200/CC3100/CC3000 that have Wi-Fi built in with factory assigned MAC addresses.
