TLK1501 SYNC Problem

Hi,

we have two PCBs (A and B) with one TLK1501 each. The PCBs are connected via two optical SFP links. One optical link is transmitting the GTX_CLK from A to B. So both PCBS share the same CLK source.

The second optical link connects the TLK TX and RX and vice versa.

In 80% of cases the connection is establied in both directions (A to B an B to A). (TXD and RXD data is correct)

But in 20% of cases there is a link error. Sometimes there is random data on RXD, sometimes RXD are "high" all the time.

Any suggestions what could cause that trouble. Is there anything to keep in mind during power up?

Hi Jan,

In 20% of cases, when there is a link error, what is the status of RX_ER & RX_DV/LOS outputs?

Hi Luis,

Error scenario1:

PCB A, RX_ER 0, RX_DV_LOS 0

PCB B, RX_ER 1, RX_DV_LOS 1

Datatransmission is working from A to B but not from B to A.

RXDs are high on PCB A

Error scenario 2:

PCB A, RX_ER 0, RX_DV_LOS 1

PCB B, RX_ER 0, RX_DV_LOS 1

Datatransmission is working from A to B.

Random data from B to A.

Hi Jan,

Could you clarify this?

1. Both TLK1501 have the same configuration?
2. Are you using PRBS function to test the system?
