SN65HVD379 Fail Safe function

Hi,

I have question about RS485 Tranceiver SN65HVD379.

Is SN65HVD379 supporting internal FailSafe function?

In the "Parameterics" written at the following TI website, it seem SN65HVD379 are supporting "open failsafe".

www.ti.com/.../SN65HVD379;tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

But I can't find the word "Open Failsafe" in the datasheet of SN65HVD379.

So, I'm guessing that SN65HVD379 aren't supporting interal failsafe. Am I wrong?

By the way, I'm searching 3.3V Full Duplex RS485 Tranceiver which doesn't support internal Failsafe, and want to create failsafe externally.

In such case, is it available to use SN65HVD379 and create failsafe circuit externally?

best regards,

g.f.

  • Hi g.f.,

You are correct - the SN65HVD379 does not have any internal failsafe protection. It was designed this way in order to support applications that define a particular external failsafe scheme, so it sounds like it should be a good fit for your application. The parametric data on the website that you mentioned is in error. Thanks for pointing that out to us; I will work to correct it.
