Terminating SN65LVDS049

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS049

Hello,

i need to know if it is possible to terminate the SN65LVDS049 with a 180 Ohm resitor.

kind regards Ralf

  • Hi Ralf,

Yes, it is OK to terminate the DOUT+/- signals of the SN65LVDS049 using higher termination resistances than the standard 100-Ohm value. One thing to note, though, is that the differential output voltage will increase as the resistance increases. The minimum/typical/maximum values provided in the datasheet are based off a standard 100-Ohm load.

  • Hello,

sorry for Long delay. Now i'm continuing wit my schematics. How shoud be unused differential Inputs (e.g. Rin1+, Rin1-) be handled?

    Kind regards Ralf

  • Hi Ralf,

If you are not using one of the channels on the SN65LVDS049 (i.e. Rout 1 is not connected to anything) than it is OK to leave this channels inputs floating. If EMI is a concern for your design then I recommend tying the Rin+/- pins to a know state to avoid any unwanted EMI radiating from the IC during normal operation.
