FPD-Link III mix-match

Can we mix and match the FPD-Link III’s serializers and deserializers?  I’m looking at the DS90UB927 serializer (LVDS input, called FPD-Link) for the HD camera (FCB-EH6500).  This has the required input of 4pair LVDS + 1pair LVDS CLK.  The serializer that looks compatible with the SD camera (MAX9526 does VBS to 8bit YCrCb conv) is the DS90UB913, our eval kits.  The question is can we have a single deserializer that is compatible with both the 927 and the 913?  All the datasheets for these have them in pairs (except for the 927/925 <-> 928).  The 925 takes in 3 8-bit channels for RGB, and we have BT656 (8-bit wide sending CbYCr sequentially).

Maybe I can find a different MAX chip that outputs RGB888 instead of BT656.

  • Hello Tom,

My apologies for the delayed reply.

Unfortunately the 92x series cannot be matched with the 91x series because both devices have different serial frame formats (913A has 28-bit; 927 has 35 bit). The compatible deserializer on the market for 913A is the DS90UB914A. The compatible deserializer on the market for the 927 is the DS90UB926, DS90UB928, and DS90UB94x series devices.

Therefore, there would not be a single deserializer that would be compatible with 913A and 927.
