Hi,

I would like to ask you a basic question about TUSB6250/9261 as below.

Q1) ATA interface

Is it possible for TUSB6250 to drive 2 ATAPI devices (Master/Slave)?

Host (USB) ---- TUSB6250 (USB ⇔ ATA) ---- ATAPI (Master/Slave)

Q2) SATA to PATA bridge

Does TI have a bridge device between SATA and PATA?

Sorry, I could not find such kind of devices...

Q3) USB - SATA - ATA

Is it possible to configure following system with TUSB8041/9261? (using USB3.0)

Host (USB) ---- TUSB8041 (4 USB port) --- TUSB9261×4 (USB ⇔ STAT) --- Bridge (SATA ⇔ PATA) ---- ATAPI (Master/Slave)

Could you give me any advice?

Hello,
Q1) Yes, you can connect two ATA devices on the same cable, only one can be working at a time, this is a restriction of the ATA specification.
Q2) I am not aware of such a device.
Q3) Yes, if you can find a SATA to PATA bridge, your topology would be correct.

I think I could understood.

But sorry, let me confirm if my understanding is correct for sure?

My understanding is,

- TUSB9261 can not recognize Master or Slave of ATA.

That is to say, TUSB9261 can recognize only one device.

- So about recognizing Master or Slave, this issue is application program issue and main MPU(Host) should manage that.

Is my undrstanding right?

Hello,

Correct, the Master/slave negotiation in SATA is done by the operating system and not by the hardware.
