PCA9515B Arbitration function

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9515B

Hi,

Could you tell me the detail of PCA9515B arbitration function, please?
I have known "Arbitration" as IIC from NXP document.
But PCA9515B is repeater.
What is necessary for arbitration at the IIC repeater?

Best regards,
Shimizu

  • Shimizu-san,

The arbitration that you are referring to is the support for multi-master arbitration. This is very similar to clock stretching. The repeater needs to be able to handle two devices pulling a SDA/SCL line low at the same time without causing a overshoot when one side is released.

The PCA9515B has been designed so that it supports arbitration and clock stretching across it without issues. Not all repeaters will have this feature.

Is there another question you had? The switch itself does not do anything to interfere with the lines
