TPS65986 ES, MP schedule

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Customer is queried about the TPS65986 ES, MP schedule, please advise.

On the other side, since the Intel Alpine Ridge device driver for PD function is still some problem, so that Clevo NBPC system will not support PD function, in this case, can they still keep Alpine Ridge device with TPS65986 for the basic type C function support(5V/3A)?

Please advise. Thanks.

Arthur

  • Hi Arthur,

Regarding the TPS65986 schedule, samples are available now and MP (RTM) will be October 30, 2015.

Alpine Ridge requires the TPS65982 and cannot function with the TPS65986. Can you describe in more detail your customer issue so that we may be able to help you correct it? What in particular is preventing your PD functionality?

    Regards,

    Karl

customer is planning to use the TPS65986 for their middle end NBPC model which is just need the Apline Ridge USB3.1(10G bit rate) function for one type C port, but no need the PD and alternate mode. They want to know how to design TPS65986 with AR for support one type C port with only USB3.1 date rate. Please advise.

  • Hi Arthur,

If your customer is attempting to implement an Alpine Ridge system they will need to utilize the TPS65982. The TPS65986 does not work with Alpine Ridge.

If your customer is experiencing any issues with the TPS65982 in the Alpine Ridge system please let us know so that we may assist them.
