TUSB2077A chip Checking functionality

Hi I have a couple of questions for the Community.

Question 1:  On pin 48 it should be set High (3.3) if you are using an external crystal for clock source.  If you are not using a crystal outside of the chip and are instead using the internal clock source it should be set to Low(0).

Is this above statement true???

Question 2:  What is the best way to check that the functionality of the USB is working?

Thank-you all for the help,

Jim

  • Hello Jim,

You can select between using an external 6Mhz crystal or a 48MHz oscillator. Therefore, if you don't want to use a crystal , the clock should be generated by an external 48Mhz oscillator, MODE terminal should be high and XTAL2 must be left open.

If the hub is being enumerated correctly, you will be able to locate it instances of this device on Device Manager. I would suggest remove the downstream devices in order to see if the failure follows the hub. Also, they can connect the USB device directly to the USB host to check if the it is working correctly.

    Regards,
    Joel
  • So then, if I want to use 6 MHz crystal...... Mode (Pin 48) should be set to ground.......
and XTal2 (Pin 44) should be connected to the other side of the Crystal......???
