about Loopback register of DP83867(reset or restart)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83867IR

Hello.

Please tell it about explanation of register address 0x00FE. (DP83867IR)
The data sheet says that I reset it after this register change by bit14 of address 0x001F.
However, bit14 is restart by explanation of address 0x001F.
Which of restart and reset will be right?
Is there what kind of difference in this restart and reset?
And how does the value of a register written in change when I do reset and restart?
(including address 0x00FE)

Regards.

  • The description for register 0x00FE should indicate that a software restart via bit 14 of the Control Register (CTRL), address
0x001F, is required after changes to this register value.  We will update this in a future revision of the datasheet.

Applying a software reset via bit 15 of the Control Register (CTRL), address 0x001F, will reset all the registers to their default values.  Applying a software restart via bit 14 of the Control Register (CTRL), address 0x001F, will reset the device without changing the register settings.

In the case of the register 0x00FE setting, applying a software restart will update the device for operation in loopback mode without changing the register configuration.

  • Hello Patrick-san

Thank you for teaching a right answer.
I understood the meaning that I must use the restart for.
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards.
