Hi Team,

I would like to ask about TIDA-00630.
I believe TUSB8041(USB3.0 Hub) supports battery charging as the following.

On the other hand, TPS2546 is also mounted with TUSB8041 in TIDA-00630(reference design).
Could you tell me the background why TPS2546 is also used?

Hello Yaita-san,

I am sorry for the delay, You are right, the HUB already has BC, so in theory there is no need to use the TPS, however I am not sure why the design includes this extra TPS, I suppose that the BC feature is disabled on the HUB and implemented externally, but I need to confirm with the engineer who designed the board, please give me extra time to get a response from him.

Hello Yaita-san,

The PCB designer decided to use the TPS2546 due to its wider range of battery charging schemes, in comparison with the TUSB8041.

Hi Diego-san,

Thank you for your support.
It seems TPS2546 supports "D+/D- 1.2V Mode" although TUSB8041 doesn't.

Is it the primary reason for adopting TPS2546?
