interfacing TPL0401

I want to dim the 3.3v TFT display using this chip and atmega1284 micro.   can you please guide me on how to do it as i am not getting it from the data sheet.

The max current required by the backlight is 60mA.

I have other I2c devices working so i am familiar with the I2C interface.

thanks

Sami

  • Sami,

I've moved this post to the I2C Forum. I think you'll find an answer in this forum where this product belongs.

  • Hello Sami,

I would be happy to help you with your question.

First of all, could you explain to me what you are using to power your TFT backlight?
Are you using a LED approach?

The TPL0401 will not be able to handle the current of the backlight directly, but instead, should be used in the signal/feedback path for a LED/backlight driver.

If you can provide some more information on what you're using to power the backlight now, I can help provide some insight.

What we have seen the TPL devices used for, is for variable voltage output from a DC/DC switcher (in the feedback path).

Most backlights tend to use a form of PWM, as this is generally considered the most power efficient approach to dimming.
