SN65LVDS324 : Compatible Image Sensors

To whom it may concern.

Our customer is considering to use SN65LVDS324.

Implementation Guide desicribe compatible image sensors but they are considering newer image sensors than listed devices.

Could you provide latest list?
If you cannnot , what should they concerned about?

Your reply would be appreciated.
Thanks and best regards.

  • Hello,

The customer only has to validate that the sensor is compatible with one of the following formats:

    -Sony LVDS parallel:

    10-bpp, up to1620 Mbps
    12-bpp, up to 1944 Mbps
    -Panasonic LVDS:
    1-channel 4-lane 12-bpp, up to 972 Mbps
    1-channel 4-lane 16-bpp, up to 1296 Mbps
    2-channel 2-port 12-bpp, up to 486 Mbps per channel
    2-channel 2-port 16-bpp, up to 6408 Mbps per channel
    -Aptina HiSPi:
    1-channel 4-lane 14bpp, up to 1134Mbps
    1-channel 2-lane 12bpp, up to 594 Mbps
    Best regards,
    Diego.
  • Hi Diego,

We are planning to use SN65LVDS324 in one of our product with SONY Sensor. We wanted to confirm on whether this chip support SLVS signal standard as well with SONY sensors.

Also wanted to know how sync is happening and sync codes are designated based on the register settings. Can you please provide some insights on it or refer to the documents where I can know about it.

    Thanks

  • Hello,
The LVDS324 does support sub-LVDS from the sensors described in the datasheet, that includes some Sony sensors.
The sync is controlled by the Sensor, you have to make sure that the sensor and your graphics controller meet the sync requirements of each other, the LVDS324 will output VSYNC and HSYNC when the sensor requires, the only setting that is involved in the sync period are the frame_width and frame_height registers described in the Table 3 of the datasheet.
You can also find more information about sync period on Section 8.4.2 of the datasheet.
