Hi Sir,

Our customer application the TPS65982 have some issue as below. May I have your suggest to close this issue?

When TPS65982 is "Charger mode" we cut the AC source power supply, the TPS65982 will change to "Dead battery mode" power source is from PC side.

If we plug in the AC source again, but TPS65982 can't return to charge mode.

AC ( charge mode) --> PC mode --> AC power supply ( can't return to charge mode)

We are suggest the reset USB or reset TPS65982, But that's not best solution for our customer. because maybe the Hub is Data transmission.

Maybe add one MUC to controll is good solution,

Do you have any suggest for MCU PN? or TI have similar function FW can be share to our customer?or any Hardware schematic can be switch this mode?

Dear all
I have meeted this same question, at first I sent '4CC' command via I2C to make TPS65982 change to source,but there is no effect when I sent '4CC' SWSr.

so I think there is a bug in this chip or firmware.

Hi Hugo,

Thank you for your question. First, I would like to make sure that you are utilizing the latest TI firmware (v1.5) which can be found via the latest version of the TPS6598X-Config tool. Once you update to the latest configuration tool and firmware please make sure that you enable the GPIO event "barrel jack detection." This event handles all the necessary work to clear the dead battery flag and initiate a swap to source after the AC source (barrel jack) is reconnected. Note: You must have hardware to generate the GPIO input (a barrel jack for example).

Hi Keiven,

Thank you for your input. If you do not have the "barrel jack detection" event enabled, then you can utilize the command you mentioned above. However, the dead battery flag needs to be cleared prior to the swap to source command. Please note that if the PC on the other end does not support the swap to source command or does not want to swap to source then it will not swap to source.

I have already do this as you said, I use GPIO8 as input of barrel jack detection, but when GPIO8 been drived high, there is no efect, I tested use mac book12 . I user the latest version of the TPS6598X-Config tool.

The I2C command to clear the dead battery flag "DBfg" is detailed in the updated TPS65982 and TPS65986 Firmware User's Guide, specifically section 5.4.6.3 Exit from Dead Battery.

Thanks! Now I can use I2C make TPS65982 change to source ,but there is a problem is that when TPS65982 changed from sink to source , USB2.0 data link will be Disconnected. but when I send '4cc' command make TPS65982 changed from source to sink ,the usb2.0 data is always linked.
