TUSB4041I EEPROM load settings

Hi, 

MY customer is trying to use the I2C mode with an EEPROM to load settings at startup of the hub. I am not sure whether the settings in the EEPROM can be changed by the host device through the TUSB4041 IC.

From section 8.4.2 in the datasheet, "the hub enters programming mode and a programming endpoint within the hub is enabled"

How does this work? Can you explain this in more detail?
