Hello everyone,

I want to use four DP83848i PHY parallel with one RJ45 (incl. Mags). The principle is shown in the following screenshot.

Is there existing an standalone Ethernet Switch IC which is providing four or more RX / TX data pairs ? If not is there a chance to get another solution by using only one RJ45 (incl. Mags) and four DP83848i PHY ?

Hi Sebastian,

I have not seen an application like this before. Typically the switch portion will be on the back end (MAC side).

There is a part though, DP83849, that allows for a sharing of a single cable IF to go to both MAC IF. (www.ti.com/.../snla086b.pdf)

Hi Sebastian,

It appears the link i have might be broken for some odd reason. Please search for "SNLA086B" in your search engine for the application note that talks about the DP83849 in a formation you are looking for.

The DP83849 is essentially two integrated DP83848s.

Hi Ross,

thank you very much, but i have another solution now with an ethernet switch IC from another company (i don't know if i can name it here). It acts like a normal ethernet 5-port switch.
