TPS65982 can support ACPI mode?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Hi Sir

How to set for support ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) mode?

Should I how to modify config tool's parameter?

Thank you for your support.

  • Hello Hugo,

Thank you for your question. The TPS65982 does not directly deal with the ACPI power standard and as such there is no config tool parameter to reflect this mode. You will need to discuss with your BIOS vendor or OEM of the PC you are working with/designing for its implementation.

If you are the BIOS vendor or OEM, please let me know if you have any other questions related to the TPS65982 when ACPI is implemented.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • Hi Karl

Because we get information from INTEL, they have TI had provided firmware file with them, it can support ACPI function.
Can we get this file?Is it modified "speed mode"?Thank you.
  • Hugo,

Is there a uController (EC) on the board that communicates with the TPS65982 on the I2C1 bus?

If so, the OS may communicate with the EC using ACPI protocol to access PDO/RDO data stored in the TPS65982 Host Interface and update the "charging icon" in the UI.

However, the TPS65982 will only negotiate for the USB PD Power contracts automatically. The TPS65982 does not have a method to update the OS on its own.
