Can multiple usb 2 devices plugged into a usb 3 hub be transmitted over the usb 3 connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8040A1

We have multiple usb 2.0 cameras plugged into a usb 2 hub but are having bandwidth problems between the hub and host.  Are the any usb 3 hubs that will transmit that usb 2 data over the usb 3 link, or do they all go into their own usb 2 and 3 hubs?  For example, the TUSB8040A1 explicitly shows four usb 2 ports going into the internal hub and out on a usb 2 port, similarly for the four usb 3 ports.

Thanks

  • Hi Ed,

Unfortunately, no. USB 3.0 hubs just repeat and route traffic, they don't have the buffer space to do conversion between the USB 2.0 side of the bus and the USB 3.0 side of the bus.
