TUSB211: data trace length

HI,

There could be two cases using TUSB211 as below. May I know if there's any concern from TUSB211 to support these two cases? Is there anything that we should take care especially?

Case1:

Host<-------11 inch ----------->TUSB211<------------20 inch ----------->USB connector

Case1:

Host<-------27 inch ----------->TUSB211<------------2.5 inch ----------->USB connector

Hello,

The distances are within the TUSB211 capabilities, but I think that the second option is a better solution since the USB cable is after the TUSB211, you only have to follow these layout guidelines: www.ti.com/.../scaa082.pdf

(1) Can we place two TUSB211 chip in cascade?
(2) What is the maximum trace distance can TUSB211 support?

Hello Wayne,

Yes, it is possible to have two TUSB211 in cascade, however we do not have data for a maximum recommended trace distance, since the device has been tested using USB cables.

Customer propose a new option as below. Do you think we can support such trace length?

Host<-------27 inch ----------->TUSB211<------------20 inch ----------->USB connector

I think that this configuration may require two TUSB211, where the second re-driver should be close to the connector .
