We are planning to implement a project with DP83640, there are a set of queries raised as mentioned below:
1.Using this chip can i work on TCP Packets?
2.What is resolution achived while using Software (initiation instead hardware) for time sync?
3.Time stamp is auto updated in Hardware registers or software has to taken care?
4.Time synchronization has to be performed only when required or is it periodic?
5.To Share time stamp from Master to Slave, can Slave ask for it to Master? or Someone has to trigger master to share time stamp to all slaves?
6.Are there any example codes to use time sync (master and slave codes) and general data transfers?
7.What are the registers to be configured to chip on Power On (Generic ones)?
8.How we are telling chip supports 8ns seconds resolution as its input clock is only 25MHz?
9.How is it handled if slaves clock rate is different than Master?
10.How does master knows whether time sync to be sent to all slaves or only few (Examples : 5 out of 10 slaves)
11.What happens if in network there are other PHY chip which wont support IEEE1588 standard, will that slave still receives PTP packet?
