SN75DP130 I2C program issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75DP130, TCA9517

I Have a customer, he is using the SN75DP130 for a DP sink(Rx) with FPGA.

My questions is that can I use DP130 without programming through I2C?

Because my customer schematic had wrong interface circuit of SCL_CTRL and SDA_CTRL between the DP130 and FPGA.

I2C signals direct connected of two devices pins, but those IOs standard are mismatch, DP130(3.3Volt) FPGA(1.8Volt). I think that he doesn’t use I2C interface.

If I use DP130 device for re-driver to bring DP Sink mode when don't use two signals of SCL_CTRL and SDA_CTRL.

Can someone recommended a workaround solution to use in this manner?

  • Hi Henry,

SN75DP130 can be used without I²C interface, this is the default mode.

However for sink applications is recommended to configure it using I²C interface. You can find the application note in product page -> technical documents:

If they want to test current board they can make dirty fixes, breaking the path and placing I²C level shifters like TCA9517. In the next version of the board remember to place this level shifters.
