 Hello Guys,

 One of our customer wants to extend the length of I2C bus beween a controller and I2C bus expander up to 3 meters. So we want to recommend them to use P82B715. But we have a question about this device. Do they need to use two P82B715 at lease to extend the length of I2C bus?

Is it no meaning to use only one P82B715?

 If do you know another device can be used for extending the length, could you please tell me the device name?

    Nakai-san,

    You are correct, that the P82B715 is a good choice to be used for long cables. You will need to have 2, see the below diagram.

    The reason two are needed is because it uses a higher voltage and current to over come the larger capacitance loads.

    Another option is the P82B96, it is similar to the 715, except that it supports more capacitance, and higher voltages on the cable side. It also will require 2 devices (1 for each side).
