TUSB320 / DRP mode toggling

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320

Hi Team,

The datasheet page.9 shows the following, so I believe TUSB320 has oscillating circuit.
>In DRP mode, the TUSB320 device toggles between operating as a DFP and a UFP.

Does the oscillating circuit stop when PORT pin is High(DFP mode) or Low(UFP mode)?
I would like to ask if the supply current of DRP mode is less than DFP mode or UFP mode.
Is there any data?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hello Yaita-san,

You are right, the oscillating circuit is off when the device is on DFP or UFP mode, and the current consumption should be between 100uA and 135uA, please notice that this number depends on the selected duty cycle (Register 0x09, bits 1:2).

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • Hi Diego-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

The datasheet shows the current consumption is 100uA(TYP) under UFP mode(PORT=L).
Is the current consumption of DRP mode less than DFP mode or UFP mode?
My customer wants to know the difference of current consumption between DRP mode and DFP/UFP mode.
    Is there any data?

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hello Yaita-san,

The DFP mode typical current consumpion is 135uA, meanwile for UFP is 100uA, but the DRP power consumption depends on the configured duty cycle, and is more than UFP but less than DFP.
    Regards,
    Diego.
