Will TPS65982 support Quick Charge 9V/12V?

According to Type-C specification 4.8.2 Non-USB Charging Methods, proprietary charging methods shall only define the current level and shall not change the voltage delivered on VBUS. So I think that Type-C specification prohibits Quick Charge 9V/12V using a Type-C cable. I would like to confirm whether TPS65982 will support QC 9V/12V or not.

If it won't support QC 9V/12V, I need to say so to my customer.

Hi msmn,

The TPS65982 does not support the Qualcomm Quick Charge protocol.

It does support the USB Power Delivery 2.0 Specification and can support up to 20V at 5A.

The ability to charge at 9V will be included in the PD3.0 specification, and has already been included in the PD2.0 spec in the form of an ECN.

This will replace Qualcomm QuickCharge moving forward for Type-C & PD.
