How can i verify the Bandwidth/Through put of a USB HUB--TUSB8041

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8041

HI,

Can you let us know how to verify performance or throughput of a USB HUB(TUSB8041) or any USB device (USB2.0/USB3.0).

once the device/HUB is connected it when is view the USB tree through USB view it is showing High Speed i want to measure the throught put of the device.

Can you please let us know the solution.

With Regards

  • Hello,
There are some solutions available in the WEB, for example you can use the CrystalDisk Mark, you can connect a thumb drive to one of the downstream ports.
You will be measuring the throughput between the USB Host and the USB Device though.

  • Hi

if I cascade TUSB8041 as shown in the attachment, assuming that all the device connected transfer data in transparent mode (data in speed equals to data out speed) then how much throughput on each interface can in expect in these case.(all the devices and hubs are operating in USB2.0 Interface)

  • Hello,
Unfortunately this only have theoretical answers, as the downstream devices are High-Speed, the bandwidth will be dictated by the Host controller, the TUSB8041's will not decrease the bandwidth.
The USB Host will assign bandwidth based on the endpoint type and bandwidth requirements of each downstream device, assuming all the downstream devices are exactly the same and all the downstream devices are doing the same exact transaction then you could expect the bandwidth to be equally divided by the number of downstream devices.

Your best option is to use standard throughput tools like the ones mentioned above.
