Hello every one,

Is it possible to connect multiple RJ45 connectors to single PHY chip(DP83848I).The DP83848I supports PHY Address strapping values from 0 to 31.How the PHY address are changed in chip through software?

Is it possible to switch the one RJ45 connector to other RJ45 connector by changing the PHY addresses?

    Hello Chaitanya,

    The PHY address is used for communication between MAC and PHY. In an environment where multiple PHYs are used, having different PHY address helps to selectively communicate with the desired PHY.

    Having multiple RJ45 connectors on a single port PHY will lead to impedance matching problems. However, if you are looking for Dual Port 10/100 PHY then we have DP83849I which can support two 10/100 connections at the same time.
