Are there any TI Ethernet PHY supporting Reater Mode( Back-to-Back) ?
My customer wants to cofigure in Single Ethernet PHY x 2.

Hello Taka,

Yes, DP83848 supports back to back communications in RMII mode. The back to back operation is explained in this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla076a/snla076a.pdf

My customer is currently considering a TLK110. It has been used successfully into their company.
Are TLK110 x 2 supporting for Back to Back communications?
If no, can they configure in TLK110 and DP 83848 for back to back mode?

Hi Taka,

Yes, the TLK110 can also support back-to-back configuration. We do recommend that customers use the DP83848 for all new product design.

Do we need any special register or strap configuration? I think it must be configured in RMII mode by boot strap. Is there anything else?

You mean that TLKXXX are not recommended for customer's new product. Is this correct?

Hi Taka,

No special configuration of registers besides just setting the PHY for RMII mode. As you mentioned above, this can be accomplished by using the RMII bootstrap.

We recommend that customers use the DP83848 over the TLK110.
