can we use DS90UH925QSQ/NOPB (SERIALIZER)in our design for interfacing ( FPD link III ) to COTS system which uses DS90UB914A-Q1(Deserializer).

Please use DS90UB913A-Q1 in conjunction with DS90UB914A-Q1.
DS90UH925QSQ/NOPB cannot be used with DS90UB914A-Q1. DS90UH926QSQ/NOPB cannot be used with DS90UB913A-Q1.

          Can you please confirm, the incompatibility between 12-bit Serdes and 24-bit Serdes is due to FPD Link III Physical layer (Hardware) itself? or Is it Software configurable based on the no. of bits?

We are designing  a common (universal) implementation for FPD Serializer (output) and FPD De-serializer (input) ports to support connectivity with multiple Video devices (supporting multiple high resolutions).

 - If a 24-bit SERDES (Serializer or De-Serializer) with its RGB bus (24-bits) connected to an FPGA in which the pins (wrapper) can be reconfigured based on the SERDES part (12bit or 24bit) used in the end unit (Video/display units) being connected;

please confirm if this implementation is ok.

Hello,

The two devices cannot talk to each other because the physical layer is different. The software on either chip cannot be changed to cause compatibility.

The two devices have different encoded serial stream packets for transferring video data which in essence is why they are incompatible.
