DS90UH948 SPI Communication

Hello,

It's possible to have SPI communication over 1-lane FPD-LINK III ? (SER: DS90UH949 ; DES: DS90UH948).

I'm asking this because in the DES datasheet (revised JAN 2016) chapter "8.3.10 SPI Communication" its written "The SPI Control Channel utilizes the secondary link in a 2-lane FPD-Link III implementation." ... so in my understanding 2-lane FPD-Link III is mandatory. 

Please let me know if 2-lane FPD-Link III configuration is mandatory to enable SPI communication.
