USB3.0 PHY TUSB1310A -- Power management state transition POWER_DOWN 0/1 Input from USB3.0 Host Controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1310A
Query regarding TUSB 1310A(USB3.0 Transceiver) POWER_DOWN 0/1 -- Input from USB3.0 Host Controller

1) Whether TUSB1310A supports ( POWER_DOWN 0/1 )P1 to P3, P2 to P3 and P3 to P2 transitions as required by USB 3.0 specification ? ( Note : Valid transitions is not explicitly mentioned in TUSB1310A datasheet.Only mentioned PIPE power state and USB Power state.
USB3.0 Host controller we have chosen mentioned about above mentioned State transition requests to PHY ) 2) If TUSB1310A does not support above mentioned state transitions what can be done for connecting with our selected USB3.0 Host Controller.

  • Hello Gerardo,

I can provide some additional information regarding LTSSM and PIPE state transitions:

Example state transitions shows that :

    1. PIPE : P1 to P3 then If LTSSM in U1 transitioned to SS.Disabled
    2. PIPE : P2 to P3 then If LTSSM in U2 transitioned to SS.Disabled
    3. PIPE : P3 to P2 then If LTSSM in SS.Disabled transitioned to Rx Detect

Note : Where P0,P1,P2, P3 are PIPE states and U1,U2,SS.Disabled, RxDetect etc are LTSSM states

According to TUSB1310A datasheet Page 23, Table 5-2 (5.3.4.1 USB Power Management), shows that

    a) PIPE state P2 corresponding USB state can be Rx Detect
    b) PIPE state P3 corresponding USB state can be SS.Disabled

With this can we assume that TUSB1310A supports P1 to P3, P2 to P3 and P3 to P2 transitions (required by USB3.0 specification) ? Kindly Confirm

    regards

  • Hello Sujith,

Section 5.3.4.1 of the TUSB1310A shows support of the all the USB 3.x specification power states.

The errata for the device is posted here:  http://www.ti.com/lit/er/sllz063/sllz063.pdf

The TUSB1310A support transitions as required by USB 3.0 specification.

    Regards,

    Gerardo
