DS125DF111 Questions from Michael Yeo

Hi,

1.

For register 0x37 and 0x38

Require detailed description on CTLE Status and DFE Status.

2.

And, one more question form customer. Please answer to the question in below.

We plan to use divider 4 and 8 modes. Regarding the description in below, it’s not clear how to configure.

Is it means that we should refer to 0x3a register in Auto detect mode (Divider 4/8)? Otherwise, Fixed Divider mode (4 or 8)?

And, please provide detailed description/explanation on CTLE.

Regards,

Liang

  • Hi Michael,

    1.
Register 0x37 and register 0x38 are reserved internal registers, there is no need to care about these two registers from application point of view
If customer wants to check the CTLE values, Please check channel register 0x52 which offers the readback vlaue of CTLE boost setting.
If customer wants to check the DFE values, please check channel register 0x71 to 0x75

    2.
If customer wants to support divided by 4 and divided by 8 rates, what customer needs to set is channel register 0x2F, to select the right dividers for group 0 and group 1. For example, customer can set channel register 0x2F as 0x66, then both VCO groups will be able to support divided by 4 and divided by 8 data rates.
Customer will also need to set channel register 0x60 to 0x64 for setting the VCO frequencies for group 0 and group 1.
Please see page 21 to page 23 on the datasheet for more details regarding this

    3.
    Regarding the channel register 0x3a.
If the data rate is divided by 4 or divided by 8 data rate(for example, 3.125Gbps), the CLTE value will be fixed and decided by channel register 0x3a.
If the data rate is divided by 1 and 2, the CTLE can be adaptive(adapt mode 1,2, and 3) or fixed(adapt mode 0)

    Regards
    Liang
