DS90UB913A/914A - Using ALP with USB2ANY

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, USB2ANY

Hello Team,

I am trying to control DS90UB913A/914A with ALP through the included USB2ANY, instead of SPA dongle. Regarding the User Guide, it seems you would need to download device profile to use USB2ANY, however, I could not find the profile data at http://www.ti.com/tool/ALP. Could you please provide us the device profile or firmware which would be required ?

We have the following error window.

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • Hello Kawai-san,

Were you able to resolve this? The software should be pre-loaded onto the USB2ANY device. Please try pressing AND HOLDING the reset button (located on end of the dongle near USB port) with a pin/needle while you pull the USB plug out of the device and plug it back in (all while HOLDING this button down). That should reset the device and allow you to flash it.

If not, my apologies for you having received a defunct USB2ANY. Please request another device since as I mentioned before, the software is preloaded and does not need to be downloaded elsewhere.

  • Hi Sean-san,

Thank you for your reply. Please let me share my test result.

I was able to update this USB2ANY with my laptop PC (Windows7, 32bit OS machine). There were firmware update direction window popping up when I connected with my PC. However, using customer 64bit OS machine, the error window appears and would not be able to start updating/flashing the USB2ANY firmware. It would be a great help if you could try connecting default factory setting USB2ANY and 914A-EVM with your 64bit OS machine.

Many customer uses 64bit OS machine, so I would like to make sure that firmware update would work correctly with both 32bit and 64bit OS. If 64bit OS is supported, our customer PC may have some trouble.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai
  • Thank you Kawai-san for your feedback, much appreciated. I will follow up with the appropriate contact to make sure that this is not an issue for customers.

  • Hello Sean-san,

I greatly appreciate for your continuous support. Please let us know whey you receive any updates.

  • we are also facing the same problem with the USB2ANY device. It asks for a firmware update. Does it mean it is faulty?

  • Hi Kawai-san, Sean,

Is the issue resolved? I was using a 64-bit Win7 and I faced exactly same issue (asking for USB2ANY update, and I cannot find the DS90UB913-914-ALP-PROFILES). Shall I contact my local TI support for the USB2ANY replacement?
  • Please try the attached firmware:

    TI USB2ANY FW.zip

  • HI Michael,

Thanks for the firmware, I have successfully updated my USB2ANY FW to 2.7.0.0

p.s. there is USB2ANY.dll (and perhaps BSL430.dll too) missing in the attachment that prevents USB2ANY Firmware Loader from launching. I get mine in \Analog LaunchPAD v1.56.0010\Drivers\i2c_controllers\usb2any\python and it does the job.
  • HI KSLeck,

I use win10 and get the following error message. Can you help me? I copy the "USB2ANY Firmware Loader.exe" in this path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\Analog LaunchPAD v1.56.0010\Drivers\i2c_controllers\usb2any\python". Is that right?

    Thank you

  • Hi Christian,

Can you check the version of USB2ANY.dll? I received same error message if the USB2ANY.dll version is 2.5.2.0. However, I can proceed to next step if the USB2ANY.dll version is 2.7.0.0.

Maybe you can try again using different version of the dll file.

    Hope it helps.
  • Hi KSLeck,

it works :) thank you very much :)

    Solution:

    I found three file in the folder(C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\Analog LaunchPAD v1.56.0010\Drivers\i2c_controllers\usb2any\python) "USB2ANY.dll.2.5.2", "USB2ANY.dll.2.7.0" and "USB2ANY.dll".

    After cut out "USB2ANY.dll.2.5.2", "USB2ANY.dll" and rename "USB2ANY.dll.2.7.0" to "USB2ANY.dll" I can start the "USB2ANY Firmware Loader.exe".

But I don't need this .exe anymore. After the warning message I close the "Firmware Loader" and start the "Analog LaunchPAD" (MainGUI.exe) Shortcut on desktop. Then the update process started by itself.

I follow the instructions and the update was successful.

Thanks for this great of the shelf product. This is plug and play ;)
