TFP401 splash screen or logo during linux boot

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401, TFP410

Hi,

We are wanting to design in a TFP401 (or similar) to take HDMI video from a computer running linux to parallel display.

I'm trying to figure out a way to display a logo or splash screen while Linux boots.  any ideas or even different components that will work for this?  any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Wes

  • Hello,
Seems like you need assistance with the firmware/software, the TFP410 is just a de-serializer, it will take anything and convert it to parallel as long as you provide it with a clock and voltage.
You still have to meet the TMDS protocol in order for the TFP410 to work properly.
I recommend you to go to the Linux community.
    Regards
  • Ok. thank you for the reply! I was think along the lines if there was a way to interface to external memory or a different version of the chip where it has some internal flash to hold a small .bmp? of course that would require the chip to have a small embedded processor of some sort...
    wishful thinking I guess...
