DP83867 support to IEEE 1588 v2?

DP83867 support to IEEE-1588-v2?
And, what is the "SOF(Start of Frame)"?
I could not find the document about SOF.

Start of Frame refers to the first symbols in an Ethernet packet that identify the start of the packet. This is sometimes abbreviated as SOF. The abbreviation SFD is also used. This stands for Start of Frame Delimiter or Start of Frame Detect.

The DP83867 datasheets include some basic information on Start of Frame. We also have an application note with additional details:

Start of Frame can be used in an IEEE 1588v2 application. The DP83867 can output the Start of Frame signals on GPIOs. These signals can then be timestamped at the board level, by an FPGA GPIO for example, to mark the transmit or receive time of the packet.

Any chance TI can provide some sort of example of how DP83867 can be used as a 1588 slave? Any FPGA code or C API would be extremely helpful

Hi Dennis,

We do not have an example code of a 1588 implementation with the 867. This would be handled by an FPGA vendor's example code for a 1588 slave. The example code should be PHY agnostic except in the case that it relies on a specific PHY's time stamping ability.
