AM26LV31E Vcc Bypass Cap.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26LV31E, STRIKE

Hello TI,

My customer is using a TI AM26LV31E Quad RS-422 Line driver in the QFN (RGY) package.

What should the Vcc bypass cap be?  Is 0.1uF ceramic enough?  Are there any reference schematics since the datasheet is pretty light on information?

Thanks,

Dan

  • Dan,

0.1uF is enough, more capacitance is better for a cleaner VCC bus.
The device interfaces directly to logic and RS422 bus so there is not much to show.
Make sure there are a few vias to the ground plane as close as possible the device's ground pin because an ESD strike on the device needs a low impedance path to ground for an exit.
