About TPD12S521 and TPD4E05U06

There are two kind of ESD protection components for HDMI port from TI—TPD12S521 and TPD4E05U06. We want to know more about them.

        1.Peak current (8/20us) of TPD12S521 is not shown on datasheet , but shown on TPD4E05U06,Can you help provide this parameter?

        2.Internal structure of these 2 component are quite similar , is there any difference between them in ESD protecting performance?              

        3.TPD12S521 hasn’t been used for many years in our company, how about the market and technique universality of TPD12S521 and TPD4E05U06 now?

  • 1. TPD12S521 has not been charecterized for protection levels against 8/20 surge. It will be less than TPD4E05U06 due to the disparity in ESD ratings

    2. The difference in ESD performance is two-fold. 1, the amount of ESD each device can withstand and 2, the clamping voltage during an ESD event. 1, TPD12S521 is rated to withstand +/- 8kV contact ESD per IEC 61000-4-2 and TPD4E05U06 is rated to withstand +/- 12kV contact and +/- 15 kV air gap esd per same spec. 2, TPD12S521 clamps +/- 8kV contact ESD at +/- 9 V and TPD4E05U06 clamps +/- 8 kV contact ESD at +25/-18 V.

    3. Both devices are widely used in the market.
