TPS65982/6 - USB-PD DRP function

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, TUSB321

Hi all,

Would you mind if we ask TPS65982 and TPS65986?

These deveices are used for USB-PD DRP function.
As our customer's request, they need only USB-PD UFP function, is TUSB321 good for USB-PD UFP function, isn't it?
(Or, do you have only USB-PD DRP's devices?)

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello Matsumoto-san,

The TPS65982 or the TPS65986 are capable of being either a DFP, UFP or DRP. These functions can be specified in the TPS6598X-Config tool under the System Configurations tab labeled "USB Type-C Port Presentation."

Additionally, the TUSB321 can also be configured as either a DFP, UFP or DRP. However, this is a USB-C device only and does not support the USB Power Delivery protocol.

Is your customer designing a USB-C system or a USB-C with USB PD system? Knowing what your system requirements and feature sets are can help to determine which TI device best fits your customer design.

    Regards,
    Karl

Thank you for your prompt always!

Our customer is designing USB-C with USB PD system with UFP only.
They don't use DFP that's why they need USB-C with USB PD system controller with UFP or DRP.
And they would like to use 20V, 5A.

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto
