12GHZ and above Pattern Generator

Hi, 

I am looking for a pattern generator with 12GHZ and Above. For example,  DS125DF410 provides internal pattern generator around 10Ghz close to 12Ghz but not 12Ghz. I am looking something similar can go 12 Ghz minimum but idealy 20Ghz and above.

    Hi Bugra,

    You can generate a 12 Gbps output from the DS125DF410 if you program the device in two ways:

    1. Provide a 12 Gbps signal for the DS125DF410 to lock to, then set up the internal VCO to lock to the 12 Gbps data rate. Once the CDR of the DS125DF410 is locked at 12 Gbps, you can set the output to be a PRBS generator that outputs the same data rate as the data rate the CDR has locked to.

    2. Operate the VCO in free-running mode and tune the CAP_DAC settings in order to output the a 12 Gbps signal. This approach will get you close, but it will wander around the 12 Gbps point.

    Aside from these options in the retimer portfolio, you would need actual test equipment devices to implement a 12 Gbps test pattern. I believe you are already discussing the details how how to resolve this issue with Lee on a separate thread:
