DS100MB203 / Revision History of the datasheet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100MB203

Hi,

I have a question about DS100MB203.

Please let me know the reason why signal detect pattern changes at 8Gbps. Previous version,Rev B says as 10.3125Gbps.

Best Regards,

Kato

  • Hi Kato-san,

The original update from Version B to C was to change the format of the DS100MB203 datasheet so that it meets the latest TI datasheet standards in terms of style and formatting. We also had a technical change to implement from Version B to C which involves the Signal Detect, but it looks like that change was not completely implemented in Version C. We will check on implementing this in Version D eventually.

Regarding your question, the changes about the 0101 pattern from 10.3125 Gbps to 8 Gbps was due to observations we noticed about the Signal Detect behavior, where the bandwidth of the signal detect was marginal at data rates significantly higher than 8 Gbps. This can potentially lead to the repeater or mux-buffer device having intermittent loss above 8 Gbps. Because of this, it is recommended to disable automatic signal detection and force the Signal Detect function to be always "on."

    Regards,

    Michael
