DP83816 / Receivepath different between latest datasheet and NSC-Reference design

Hello,

with our current design, ethernetcard with two DP83816, we encountered troubles, when using it with EtherCAT.

We receive many symbol errors, ... . Our design is based on the reference schematic from the NSC-Demoboard, Doc.Nr. 870011508-300.

After checking the latest datasheet, i saw, that the receive path, shown on page 101, is different compared to the NSC-Demoboard.

( centertap of receive must now be connected to VDD, the centerpin of the two resistors must also be connected to VDD, an the

value of the resistoers changed from 54.9Ohm to 49.9 Ohm )

Can someone tell me, which circuit is now the correct one ?

The demo board schematic is correct. The terminations for the receive path must be 54.9 Ohm resistors.

The image shown in the datasheet is incorrect. We will need to update this information in the datasheet.

Hi Patrick,

thanks for the fast reply. So the demo board schematic is correct, for the complete receive path, including resistor values, connection of the center tap of the magnitics, and the center pin of the 54.9 Ohm resistors.
