DS90LV031 Variations in an input signal

Hello,

There is undershoot in input signal (DINx) of DS90LV031.

Is there any acceptable level of undershoot?

Best regards,
Seishin

  • Seishin,

Technically this waveform violates the absolute maximum condition for a short period during the transition from high to low.  However, very short duration low voltage events like the one shown on the oscilloscope waveform above do not present a reliability concern for the input structure.

Good system design practices like series termination resistors can minimize and even eliminate most undershoot or overshoot conditions.

I would highly recommend series termination for undershoot events which last for > 20 ns and/or have an amplitude of -0.8V or VDD+0.8V

    Regards,

    Lee
