Question about clock setting of SN65DSI83

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI83

I have a question about SN65DSI83 because there is an issue at CAR Navigation Company.

I am not familiar with this kind of device.

The issue that the screen is flickering is reported.

Customer condition and setting>

  • LCD resolution : 1280*600, 60Hz

  • MIPI 4Lane + CLK 1Lane

  • DSI CLK : 150MHz

The problem is solved by changing the CLK from 150MHz to 450MHz.

Thinkware engineer requested the below.

  1. Guide the clock setting following the resolution.

    For example, 1280*600, 60Hz : 450MHz (or 400~500MHz), ?*?, ?Hz : ?MHz

  2. Any document or information about the continuous clock in detail.

  3. At tool. He can see the suggested DSI CLK. Is it ok to use the value? Need more to check?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello,
Please, use the DSI Tuner tool to input the panel's configuration and then export the .dsi file and send it to us so we can check the display's setting such as bit per pixel, format, etc.
    Also, provide the panel datasheet.
I will check your questions and provide feedback as soon as possible.
  • Regarding the min MIN DSI CLK requirement, the DSI Tuner calculates the DSI CLK frequency required to sample the DSI data . This value is based upon the DSI throughput and the line time, calculated using the DSI input and panel input parameters. This value is equivalent to the DSI CLK rate that should be used in non-burst operation.

  • Hello.

    I'm Tyler Chun.

    Setting values are as follows.

    Panel Setting

    DSI Setting

    so againg the inquiries.

    1. If one non-burst mode even if continuous clock is no problems?

    2. If you increase the DSI clock at 150Mhz continuous clock is good.

How ti set up a non-continuous clock is?

    3. The output Resolution 1024*600, LVDS Output clock 50Mhz

DSI clock adequate to supply converter is in AP?

    Thank you!

    Best Regards,

  • For the DSI timing calculation, the total value matters the most as it relates to the line time(horizontal sync to next horizontal sync).  It is critical for the DSI source to output the data per the calculated line time.  Please confirm if the line time matches the tool calculation (Based upon the provided DSI settings, it calculates to be 24.120us. This value is equivalent to the DSI CLK rate that should be used in non-burst operation.
