About PWRDWN pin spec of DS90CF386

Hi,

I have a few questions about DS90CF386(LVDS Receiver).
www.ti.com/.../snls055i.pdf

In the datasheet of DS90CF386, there are no following specification for "PWRDOWN" pin.
******************************
- Transition Time
- Minimum pulse width
******************************

I want to know these specification because we are also using DS90CF383B
and there are above specification written in DS90CF383B datasheet.

best regards,
g.f.

  • Hi g.f.,

We do not have specifications for the PWRDWN pin, as it is not tested in production.

The potential danger of a very fast transition time or small pulse width is that you may trigger the internal ESD structure due to overshoot, like below:

We do not specify a minimum edge for the PWRDWN pin, since the real issue is the potential voltage overshoot and not the edge itself.

We recommend that you apply a low-pass filter on the PWRDWN pin to ensure that the internal ESD structure does not trigger. Using a simple RC low-pass filter, such as 10k series and 22 uF to GND, is an acceptable solution. This will also ensure that the pulse width of any signal on the PWRDWN pin does not trigger the ESD structure as well.

    Thanks,

    Michael
