TPS65982 configured as an UFP for DisaplyPort

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, HD3SS460

Hello,

I am interested in using the TPS65982 in a USB/ Display Port mode. My question involves the SBU mux interface. From the datasheet I can see that the device has a RPU100 100k ohm pullup/pull down configuration used as a DFP on the AUX_P/N pins. However I am interested in using this as an UFP, and this requires a 1 Mohm pullup/pulldown on the AUX_P/N pins for the SBU interface. I do not see this pullup/pulldown in the datasheet. Can this be used as an UFP when in USB/Display port mode?

Regards,

Guy

  • Guy,

The 100k PU/PD resistors are internal and are not set automatically by the Application Code (FW).
External PU/PD resistors may be used on the system-side at AUX_P/N pins. SBU1/2 pins can be routed directly to C_SBU1/2 pins of TPS65982.

If you are using HD3SS460 Mux in addition to the TPS65982, the SBU1/2 pins may be routed to the mux instead of the TPS65982, and PU/PD resistors are recommended on the datasheet of the HD3SS460 in the example application schematic.

NOTE: in DisplayPort mode, the video sink is called the UFP_D, while the data device is called simply the UFP, or UFP_U, so be careful with your typing and don't mix up D's, P's, and U's
