TPS65982 / TPS65986 displayport issue

Dear Sir 

If we would like to show "non-displayport typeC device" insert to my system in windows 10

How could I do??  if I use TPS65986 / TPS65982

    Kai,

    Please confirm that you are referring to Billboard feature required by Windows 10 operating system.

    Both the TPS65982 & TPS65986 support Billboard feature with the integrated USB2.0 Low-Speed Endpoint.

    Are you working with a Type-C/PD Dock that supports DisplayPort, but you want to display information when the Laptop is unable to enter DisplayPort mode because it does not support the Alternate Mode?

    About your question => Yes!! ,this is our end customer's requirement ,if the TypeC port doesn't support Alternate mode , they want to tell their user this message

    Dear Brian 

    You could refer to below figure 

    Windows 10 (version 10.0.10586) will have below message ,when I insert apple dongle to TPS65982 + HD3SS3212 (doesn't support displayport)

    But this message can not  clearly and could let user know TPS65982 or Apple dongle displayport function is workable or not

    Our customer would like to let user know below 

    If the apple dongle displatyport function is workable ,the windows can show "This TypeC port doesn't support displayport Alternet mode"

    Do you have any idea how to do??

    Kai,

    This post is pretty old, but are you still having issues with Billboarding?

    If so, can you draw a block diagram of your test setup?

    If you have the TPS65982+HD3SS3212 connected to the receptacle of the Apple dongle, the TPS65982 would not be responding with the Billboard message.

    Whatever product is connected to the Laptop (in this case, the Apple dongle's plug side) will respond with the Billboard message. The receptacle of the Apple dongle is only for a charger (power only) and does not have any data capabilities.

    Sorry!! The final spec is TypeC connector support DP1.2 + USB3.1 Gen2 10Gpbs
    So this design will use CCGx + TUSB1046 + 10Gbps USB3.1 Gen2 host to do
    The key point is this project need to support displayport error message on windows10's desktop when customer insert the typeC device but this typeC device not support displayport

    Cypess could support this OS driver ,do you think TI could do also??

    Kai,

    Yes, the TPS65982 and all other TPS6598X parts support the Billboarding feature required by USB PD for Alternate Modes. The Win10 operating system supports the Billboard driver natively and report the Error Message.

    The Billboard feature is enabled by the integrated USB2 Endpoint and the ASCII Strings sent to the Win10 PC can be customized in the TPS6598X-CONFIG Configuration Tool.
